  1. Some great links here Cam, thanks. I find it amazing that the tone of recent Gulf media reports seem to be that "presto!", most of the oil spill has vanished and so we don't need to think about it (or its consequences) any more. This is a national IQ test. I'm relieved to the scientific community step forward to call bullshit. Certainly the sheer number of global humanitarian disasters are overwhelming, and people I know who normally care about this stuff are throwing up their hands and plugging back in to the Matrix to escape, but now is no time to give up.

The NYC mosque issue is fascinating story, particularly why the GOP pundits and politicians (hell, even Carly Fiorina has leaped onto that bankwagon here in CA) have decided to pick a fight over that. Last night's Daily Show revealed a video of Charton Heston addressing and NRA gathering to opposed a citizens group who had ask the NRA not to host a regional conference in close proximity to the Columbine shooting out of sensitivity to the families of those victims. Of course, Heston's arguement was about "our freedoms" and First Amendment rights then. It was a brilliant illumination of the present hypocracy of the right.
